Cultural Exchange

Our greatest recent accomplishment is Across the Americas,  a youth-led cultural exchange cofounded together with Pachamama’s Path, Kusi Kawsay Association and Unlocking Silent Histories. Our new program between the Quechua Nation of the Andes and the Pueblos of New Mexico inspires a global youth movement to elevate and reignite Indigenous wisdom, amplify youth identities, and reconnect us.

Across the Americas has a strong foundation rooted in years of exchange with members of Taos Pueblo, as well as students from NACA, with special thanks for the support of Ron Solomon of Laguna Pueblo, cofounder of IPCC.  The 2023 July exchange included 18 cultural bearers, musicians, artists, video ethnographers, all graduates, students and members of the Ñawpa Ñan Cultural Community, Kusi Kawsay Andean School, and Kusi Ñan projects, and Quechua master weavers who united with youth and elders from Pueblos across New Mexico.

Subsequently, in June 2024 an Intertribal Pueblo delegation from New Mexico participated in the cultural exchange in Peru. In July 2025 the Quechua delegation will visit New Mexico to continue to deepen this ongoing enriching exchange, and NACA is planning their next exchange in Peru. These ongoing exchanges reconnect our Indigenous Peoples, as our ancestors did in the past, and secure cultural continuity.

Building that relationship between united cultures is essential to the future of Indigenous communities across the world.

International Gathering of Indigenous Nations

Since our grassroots beginnings, Pachamama’s Path has continually promoted cultural exchange as a vital programmatic priority to uplift and connect Indigenous Peoples.

Our most significant exchange, the intergenerational International Gathering of Indigenous Nations, Inti Raymi Solstice celebration, is organized annually in partnership with Kusi Kawsay Association’s Ñawpa Ñan cultural project.  Taking place in the Sacred Valley of the Incas of Peru with over 200 participants from many Nations for over 20 years now, this exchange has a huge impact for Indigenous self-determination.

In addition, multiple and diverse Indigenous youth, women’s, cultural, videography, climate justice, and educational exchanges happen throughout the year, every year. Peru, Belize, Bolivia, Ecuador, Canada, New Mexico, California, Japan, Guatemala, Columbia, Argentina, and Mexico, are a few places we have participated in exchanges representing our Quechua Nation as culture bearers, sharing with Indigenous Peoples from multiple Indigenous Nations.
