Rumi Maki Karate

RUMI MAKI DOJO, member of TKIC PERU and of the KARATE LEAGUE OF THE PISAC-CUSCO DISTRICT, is a complementary program of the Kusi Kawsay Association that promotes well-being through the encouragement of healthy discipline and athletic and physical development.

The Rumi Maki Dojo, located in the farming village of Taray, in the heart of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, offers a privileged environment, set amidst corn fields with the Qesermayo River flowing nearby; an ideal place to practice karate in connection with nature. The vitality and strength of Andean geography, culture, and tradition share similarities with the ancestral practice of Zen.
The mission of the Rumi Maki Dojo is to provide the opportunity to learn karate to children from this rural area who would otherwise not have access to this experience, mainly due to economic limitations.

Rumi Maki also provides girls, boys, and youth in the area the opportunity to participate in high-level events in a beautiful and magical environment, practicing karate connected with the telluric force of the Andes.
Karate Values
Karate not only develops the physical aspect but, more deeply, promotes fundamental values such as discipline, respect, humility, loyalty, solidarity, and, above all, generates inner peace that is reflected in a non-violent attitude, with the ability to control internal forces and emotions.
Kusi Kawsay considers these values key to being successful members of society and future leaders, which makes Karate a valuable practice that contributes to the education and development of girls, boys, and youth in the Andes.

International Recognition
Through this league, we have participated in competitions at the local, regional, national, and even international levels, winning medals and trophies, as well as gaining valuable self-esteem.
Our students have been part of the Peruvian National Team on different occasions, in addition to having become champions at the National, South American, and Pan American levels.
